Rosebud AQUATIC CENTRE: Autumn update

Construction of Rosebud’s Aquatic Centre project is continuing to make progress and is on track for completion this year despite the ongoing challenges presented by the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In a win for community members, the project is still progressing, and construction contractor Buxton Constructions has implemented a range of measures to ensure compliance with current State Government restrictions due to the Coronavirus situation.

Project milestone update

Working collaboratively has helped Council achieve significant milestones, most recently:

  • APRIL 2020
    Construction continues despite Coronavirus challenge
    Construction milestones have continued to be reached despite the Coronavirus pandemic. These milestones include floor slabs; leak testing pools and the highest point of structural steel installed.
  • FEBRUARY 2020
    Traffic signal changes announced
    To provide safe access to the new Aquatic Centre in Rosebud, changes will be made in late 2020 including new traffic signals and a right turn ban from Boneo Road into Allambi Avenue.
  • NOVEMBER 2019
    Belgravia Leisure awarded tender for Aquatic Centre management

    Mornington Peninsula Shire Council appointed Belgravia Leisure to manage the operations of the new Aquatic Centre at its Council meeting on Tuesday 26 November 2019. Belgravia Leisure commenced working with Council in January 2020 for a five-year period.
  • JULY 2019
    Celebrated the start of construction 

    The construction phase of the much-anticipated Aquatic Centre officially kicked off in July 2019 with a celebration and official sod-turn held at the Mornington Peninsula Shire offices in Besgrove Street, Rosebud.
  • JUNE 2019
    Construction tender awarded to Buxton Constructions 
    Council considered five tender submissions before voting to award the contract to Buxton Constructions at its open Council meeting held on Monday 24 June 2019.
Our Aquatic Centre will feature:

  • 50m indoor pool
  • Learn to Swim and warm water program pools
  • Aqua Play Area and Toddler Pool
  • Multi-purpose room for health and fitness classes
  • Gymnasium
  • Wellness centre featuring consulting, steam and sauna rooms catering for specialist services such as massage and physiotherapy, relaxation, older adults and sports recovery
  • Café offering high-quality food services
  • High priority disability access
  • Access ramps to the main pool, learn-to-swim pool and warm water program pool
  • Wheelchair access to the spa within the warm water program pool
  • Family change rooms for persons with a disability or special needs.

Our Aquatic Centre is currently under construction with completion scheduled late 2020.
