Rosebud Aquatic Centre Winter Update 🏊‍♂️🏊🏼‍♀️

Tender applications for construction of the Rosebud Aquatic Centre have now closed and will be considered by Council on 24 June with construction due to commence in July 2019.
Be on site for an official sod turn at 4 pm on Monday 8 July.

Mornington Peninsula Shire would like to thank our highly involved community for your ongoing interest and support during the planning and development of the Rosebud Aquatic Centre. Working collaboratively has helped the Council achieve significant milestones, most recently:

  • MAY 2019
    Construction tender process

    Tender applications for construction of the Rosebud Aquatic Centre have now closed. Council will consider applications at a special Council meeting on 24 June with construction due to commence in July 2019.
  • APRIL 2019
    Car park completion 

    An additional 270 parking spaces are now available for community members and Shire staff, and will also ease congestion whilst the Aquatic Centre construction is underway.
  • MARCH 2019
    Facility management model 
    Council will work alongside an industry expert in the management and delivery of a state-of-the-art facility in Rosebud. Council will retain control over key elements of facility planning and management with an expert aquatic service provider supporting via input on key decisions and management of day-to-day operations.
  • NOVEMBER 2018
    Detailed design plans approved 

    Council praised the ‘team effort’ of Shire officers, committees and community members when approving detailed design plans in November 2018.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Council confirmed it will engage the services of an industry expert to work alongside Council in the management of the Rosebud Aquatic Centre.

At its Council Meeting on Tuesday 12 March, Council adopted a five-year Fee for Service management model, including up to 12 months of pre-opening planning to help deliver a state-of-the-art facility in Rosebud.

After considering community feedback on the Rosebud Aquatic Centre Business Case, Council confirmed it will progress with a 50-metre indoor pool for the future Rosebud Aquatic Centre, set to be constructed at Besgrove Street Rosebud.

Council received feedback from more than 7,000 participants from across the peninsula during consultation on the length of the main indoor pool.

Overall 94% of respondents in all the engagement methods preferred a 50m pool.

The Aquatic Centre will feature:

– 50m indoor pool
– Learn to Swim Pool
– Warm water program pool
– a multi-purpose room for health and fitness classes gymnasium
– a wellness centre featuring consulting, steam and sauna rooms
catering for specialist services such as massage and physiotherapy,
relaxation, older adults and sports recovery
– a café offering high-quality food services
– high priority disability access
– access ramps to the main pool, learn-to-swim pool, and warm water
program pool
– wheelchair access to the spa within the warm water program pool
– family change rooms for persons with a disability or special needs

Rosebud Aquatic Centre will be designed and constructed over a three-year period, with the aim of opening late 2020.
