Event details

Australians’ lifetime love affair with the beach is as timeless as sun, sand and sea.

Highlighting recent acquisitions and donations into the Town Hall Gallery Collection, this exhibition showcases Matthew Sleeth’s candid photographic series Rosebud, alongside other works not previously displayed.

From 2002 until 2006, Matthew visited Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula in the summer, usually during the first week of January when the foreshore was at its peak. Shot on a medium-format camera, the photographs provide a rich documentation of a quintessential Australian experience: summer holidays camping by the beach.

Featuring artists: William Ferguson, Robert Jacks, Dena Kahan, Louis Kahan, Helen Maudsley and Matthew Sleeth.
