Mornington Peninsula – COVID Lockdown lifted

In line with the Victorian Government, Mornington Peninsula Shire has returned to Covid-safe summer restrictions.

There are still some important steps we need to take to keep ourselves and others safe. Face masks must be carried at all times and continue to be  mandatory indoors (except in a residential home). This includes workplaces.

Face masks are mandatory outdoors when you cannot maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres from others who you don’t live with (unless an exemption applies).

Shire services that have returned to Covid-normal:

  • Rubbish, recycling and green bins collection
  • Tips and hoppers
  • Mount Martha Public Golf Course
  • Boat ramps
  • Community halls
  • Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery
  • Our Library
  • Recreation centres and pools
  • Playgrounds
  • Skate parks
  • The Briars (Visitors Centre is open 10am – 3pm)
  • Beaches
  • Cemeteries
  • Sporting fields
  • Customer Service
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Youth Services
  • Animal Shelter
  • Visitor Information Centre.

An update on foreshore camping

Foreshore camping at Shire-managed reserves in Rye, Rosebud and Sorrento have  reopened for pre-booked campers. We are not taking any new bookings at this time. For further information please contact the Foreshore Office on 5950 1011 during business hours.

COVID grants now open!

A range of grants are available to help business recover from the pandemic.
The grants are now open and eligible business associations, bushland and foreshore friends groups, landcare groups, not for profit organisations, community groups and creatives (individuals and organisations/groups) are encouraged to apply.Available grants include:

  • Relief Grants (quick response) $2,000. Open: 18 January 2021, available until funds are expended
  • Business Association COVID-19 Recovery Grant Program $3,000. Open: 1 February – 5 March 2021
  • Community Recovery Grants $10,000. Open: 1 – 26 February 2021
  • Biolinks Support Grants $10,000. Open: 8 February – 5 March 2021.

Local testing clinics

If you have any symptoms, however mild, you should get tested. Symptoms can include: fever, coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, headache, muscle or joint pains, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, loss of sense of smell, altered sense of taste, loss of appetite and fatigue.

For further advice call the 24-hour Coronavirus hotline 1800 675 398, your general practitioner or use the State Government’s online self-assessment tool.

Testing is free if done through a public health facility or GP offering bulk billing.

Rosebud Hospital: The clinic is located in Eleanora House at the front of the Rosebud Hospital.

Frankston Hospital: Corner of Hastings Road and Yuillie Street, Frankston.

Atticus Health Medical Clinic Hastings: Testing at the clinic car park. Tests are by appointment only.

Rosebud Respiratory Clinic at the Rosebud Skin Cancer Centre: Testing at the clinic by appointment.
